TAMPA, FLA. (April 14, 2007) -- After three quarters of scoreless football, quarterback Matt Grothe did what USF fans became accustomed to last season – he led his team from behind and scored with just 1:02 remaining to lead the White to a 7-6 win over the Green in the annual spring game at Raymond  James Stadium before 4,310 fans.

they announced 4423 but my guess is either way it was the largest spring game crowd

Those on Press Pass heard 4310... those at the game probably heard 4423.

May I ask what the old record was for attendance for a spring game??

I had last year's game at 3,862. I'll have to dig through our archives year-by-year and see what the past crowds were ...

I only ask that because the PA annoucner stated that the attendance was one of USF highest to watch a spring game, so I am not too sure that it was a record. Well, that PA announcer did mess up with many of the names such as Danny Verpaele at QB or Jenkins with the catch (when it was Courtney Densen).  I loved it when he called Hester Jr Busbee because Hester Jr had he jersey tied up to make his #87 look like #82. So, I guess the PA announcer was not really up to date on records or anything.

The PA announcer was the same guy who does the baseball games. The regular football guy will be back for next football season I think.
