Here are some of our baseball opponents' RPI as of this week.

17.  Stetson

39.  UF

41. USF

50.  Louisville

53.  Georgia Tech

71.  Central Michigan

75.  UCF

81.  Rutgers

86.  High Point (higher RPI than 7 of our 9 Conference Foes)

94.  St. John's

115.  North Florida

119.  WVU

145.  JU

154.  ND (this one really hurts, as they are normally in the top 40 or 50)

155.  UConn

160.  Villanova

166.  Seton Hall

174.  Manhattan

182.  Quinnipiac

205.  Cincinnati

251.  Georgetown

280.  FAMU (how'd we almost lose to this team?)

Interesting stuff.  Hopefully Georgia Tech's and St. John's RPI will get better by next month when we play them.  We need to finish off Stetson in the one remaining game, and also take the other two versus UCF.  Also, our series at Louisville will be huge for conference title ramifications.

Stetson at 17 is very impressive.  They have built quite a program in DeLand.  A year or so ago they listed the Top 50 Baseball Programs in the country and Stetson was listed.  USF did not make the cut.  Hopefully the Prado regime will put us where we belong on that list.

Apparently these aren't the official ones, but they are real close judging from his explanation.

Actually, we are not scheduled to play Georgetown or Cincinnati this year -- unless they manage to make it to Brooklyn.

Yeah, I just threw all of the Big East teams in there to get an idea of how bad our conference RPI actually is.

It kind of sucks we don't play Georgetown or Cincinnati this year. Two worst teams in the league this year and would have been a great chance to get 6 more wins in conference.

Judging from these RPIs, it appears we'd have to win the Big East Tourney to get to the Big Dance.  Our Conference isn't doing us any favors, and is in fact hurting our chances.

Well, as with the basketball selection committee, it isn't just the RPI that comes into play, but other factors as well. Strength of schedule, performance against good teams, recent success or lack thereof.

But the Big East is not likely to get more than two bids at most.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
