Scallywags Start College Series

Well, I know most of you will be at the Spring Football Game this weekend, but I thought some of you might want to know this. The Scallywags (USF men’s Ultimate team) will be in Orlando for the South Sectionals, the first round of the Ultimate College Series (post-season). We will be facing competing with 26 other teams from Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. The top 8 teams will advance to the Atlantic Coast Regionals in Charlotte. The team has come together over the last month and is on the verge of breaking out. We have a really good chance of moving on, but it will be a dog fight all weekend, since about 15 teams have a legitimate chance of taking one of those 8 spots.

There’s no word on the schedule yet, but I will let you know as soon as possible. We appreciate any support out there. We hope to make USF proud.

Well the schedules have been released for this weekend. It looks to be a long and intense tournament. Starting at 9:00 Saturday morning and ending well past 6:00 Sunday evening, 26 teams will fight to claim 8 spots to Regionals in Charlotte.

South Florida is seeded as 10th in the tournament, and has a very good chance to make the cut. This is uncharted waters for the program. No team has ever been seeded this high. No team has ever qualified for regionals. This is history in the making.

New Schedule for us. Some team's backed out at the last minute. We are also likely to play at a seperate site in Winter Park on Saturday, instead of at the UCF campus. If anyone is intersted in going to watch, message me and I can get you diresctions. Sunday, when we make it into the top brackets, we will be playing at UCF.

I'm sorry to bring bad news home. The Scallywags had a bad weekend of play. We lost our first game to Emory 8-9 on a time cap. It was a hard fought game, that neither team wanted to lose. Losing that game killed us. We left everything we had on the field. Unfortunately, that meant we had nothing left for the rest of the day. It was a very trying experience for all of us. Other teams brought it, and we didn't. Period. We ended up with a 1-4 record for the weekend.

Although the weekend was a disappointment, we can still hang our heads high for what we have accomplished. Here is a list of what this year's team has achieved:

First USF team to ever have a winning record (20-15)

First USF team to ever win a tournament (Janus).

First USF team to ever compete out of state.

Highest ranked team in USF history.

We will take some time off to recover, and then get back to training and practicing over the summer. We have more goals to achieve.
