The comments were on the first two series when the projected starters were in.  The way I read it is that Williams is holding his own at this point and Ford hasn't broken into the starting lineup.

Ford played most of the day with the 2's. Ben Williams, Aston Samuels, and Mike Ford got the majority of the reps. Each had a few good plays. Samuels broke a 15-20 run for the offense's first touchdown of the day.

guys...ford is GOING to have his problems.  but he has the RIGHT coach for it.  Leavitt will make sure the kid does everything he needs to do in SPRING to be ready for fall.  even if it means missing practice to hit the books.  

Ford is an RB...probably the easiest position to learn.  i think CJL is more concerned with him getting into shape than being at practice.

i think this is a non story.

Kyle is right ... Ford ran mostly with twos today. Had a hand off from Grant Gregory towards the end of practice and scored a three-yard run, basically untouched. Ben Williams is with the No. 1s as the Prospectus says ... for all purposes he has the starting job, just as he did in the Bowl game.
