Can someone explain how to get to Omaha?  And, are we in the running at least?

The Bulls had a #48 RPI rating before this game. I dont see more than two Big east team making the tourney. So winning the BE tournament will be very important

It all depends on how we do rest of year if we can get an impressive record and get ranked then we might get in without winning BE.

But you are right more than one would be difficult

Logistically, how postseason baseball works:

Just as in basketball, the NCAA baseball tournament names 64 teams to play in the post-season. Though some come through automatic bids for conference tournaments, others come through an at-large selection.

The selection committee names 8 national seeds who are scheduled to host unless they are knocked out of the tournament. It also selects 16 sites for regional tournaments, which are double-elimination. The winners of those 16 advance to a best-2-of-3 series to narrow the field to 8. (Again, the national seeds host unless they are out.) Those 8 go to Omaha. In Omaha, the teams are bracketed into 2 4-team divisions and they compete in double-elimination fashion. The winners of the two divisions meet in a series to decide the champion.

Obviously, you would like to host one of the 16 regionals and those MOSTLY go to the No. 1 seeds, but not always (but the 8 national seeds do get to host). the NCAA likes schools with gate receipts. In Florida, that means UF, FSU and/or Miami, though Stetson has tried hard to get a bid as well.

Great info for us ignorant types. Thanks Reliabull

It is Great info, although our team does not qualify under those circumstances.  We would need an at large berth most likely, unless we win the Big East Tourney in Brooklyn  (Coney Island).  It would be a fun place to watch the tourney though, wouldn't it??

The odds against us being a national seed are very high indeed. In order to hold a regional, the athletic department must submit a bid and then the NCAA and the selection committee have pick which of the bids (including the 8 national seeds, who are locked into hosting) fill out the round of 16.

For argument's sake, let us pretend that we manage to reel off wins in our remaining regular season to have a 47-9 record (highly unlikely). We almost certainly would not receive a national seed. On the off chance we did receive one, we would be forced to play our games off-campus in a park that could hold several thousand and our athletic department forced to pony up to host it. That's because baseball is unlike basketball and needs a home-field draw -- therefore the best 8 teams may not always be the 8 national seeds.

A much more likely 47-9 scenario is that we would be a No. 1 seed in another region and sent to play on the home field of a No. 2 (or maybe even) a No. 3 seed.

Even more likely is that we won't finish with a big winning streak and wind up as a 2 through 4 seed elsewhere. Usually the committee tries to limit travel, but cannot do that always.
