Our girls would look plenty cute in a Bulls Green Gameday Tee shirt.  Just have them buy one a size smaller if they want it form fitting.  All other schools do this and its not a men/women issue.  Its a pride issue of wearing the true gameday shirt.

Ok. they could buy one size smaller - but the idea of it being a "true" gameday t-shirt needs to be highlighted.  What's the difference between the green shirt that yall are pitching and a cute green shirt someone picked up at the mall that afternoon? Its that difference that needs to be communicated. Thats all I am saying. Good luck with it - if its done right, i think it will be great!

Oh and I love the "pick a green one" slogan.  ;D Super catchy.

honestly, in my opinion...as long as its the correct color green...there is NO difference.

JUST WEAR GREEN!!!!  it does look amazing on TV and gets people excited to come experience the atmosphere in person.

That was my point. What is special/official about the shirts yall want to sell? What is stopping some freshman girl on campus from going to the mall and buying a dark green polo at the gap or lacoste?  Yall want to make sure if you offer t-shirts, students and alumni will buy them and wear them over the t-shirts that are already being sold in the book store OR other dark green shirts being sold at retail stores across the country. I am just saying that yall need a marketing strategy so the shirts that you make are sold.

i support people if they want to get a shirt sale going but that wasnt my point.  i just want people to wear green.  i think if the ATH department sold them with season tickets then it would be one way to reach people and bring it to their attention that its something people are trying to orgainze.  if fans know that other fans are making an effort to wear green then they will too.

I think we are focusing on the wrong thing. We could get more out of this if instead of using the money to buy 5K shirts, we use the same resources towards advertising for the general public to wear their own green shirt to the game.

Do you mean this green or this green?

Professor Belle of the Bull,

You hit the nail with the market research and presented a great idea with talking to the Mass Comm people. That is one of the original ideas of starting this post...to see who could input what and how.

Students and fans need to be made aware that these will be "official gameday shirts" and the media needs to coin the 'movement' - I personally like "green out". It's simple. And there are members of this board who can help coin that phrase in news papers and on Radio

Funny you guys post something like this right when news breaks of Megans idea...

She has been working with the AD and CJL with the design which came from an athletics outside graphics artist.  It's pretty cool looking.  If she lets me... I'll sneak a file on the board.

Megan (SG Director for Athletic Affairs) got the funding from student government for the project and athletics is pitching in around $20,000 too... each shirt will only cost a student $5, and due to current stadium contracts, etc... will only be sold in the Marshall Center.  I KNOW, needs to be sold more places... and Megan, ADW and CJL agree.  She is trying to work with athletics and the vendors to sell them at RJS.

She has been working on this for some time... so far... everything looks to be going well.  A stratigic marketing plan will be put in place by the athletics marketing dept, SG marketing dept, and the Marshall Center marketing dept.  You should start seeing ads in about a month.

If I come across anything that she lets me give out (proposals, graphics, etc) I'll post them.

Pure coincidence. I've already got an email into Megan so I hope she'll be able to respond.  Plus, I directed her to this thread  :P

Maybe the GREEN OUT should be focused in phases.

Phase 1 - 10,000 shirts to the students for the '07 season

Phase 2 - Repeat phase 1 + Shirts sent out to Alumni and Season tickets holders, and sold around town (retail stores, RJS, Campus) for the '08 season.

Phase 3 - GREEN OUT by the end of '08

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
