I don't say the gator is in the bag, but to way we won't even be considered at 10-2 or better is wrong too.  A 10-2 or 11-1 USF would strongly be considered for the gator.  Maybe not selected, but very strongly considered.

Second, I am sick and tired about the attendance stat being thrown out.  That will go up by at least 10K gauranteed this year, with the home schedule.  You can mark it down, if USF has the year that is expected, with the home schedule we have, we will average over 40K this year.  We averaged 39K with the same sched 2 years ago with a FAR worse team.  I wouldn't be surprised to see avg attendance at 42-44K with a game or 2 nearing 50K, especially if we start off with a win against AU.

TSA said average gate receipts (bodies in seats) was around 24,000 last year. TSA runs the Outback Bowl and the Gator Bowl is run by The Gator Bowl Association. All the bowls are part of an organization known as the Football Bowl Association. They converse with each other when making their decisions.

As for attendance going up, it will, but when there aren't scattered open seats we can legitimately lay a claim to a bowl committee that we are drawing well.

UL at the Gator Bowl was part of the old contract. The new one for FOUR years started last year.

So technically they have 3 more years to choose from B12/BE-ND

No doubt we'll be considered, but I see the "Miami" problem coming in on this one.

Inb 1996 the Gator Bowl took a 8-4 WVU team over 9-3 Miami team, leaving the Miami team to play in the Carquest Bowl at Joe Robbie.

In 1999 the Gator Bowl really pissed Miami off by taking a Notre Dame team over them, leaving them to have to go to the Micron PC Bowl @ Joe Robbie

I'm not trying to be a **** or start a fight, but I interned for a bowl planing committee and I know the way they work (and the poloticing by the schools) and I just cannot see USF having the pull right now to get into the Gator Bowl.

Unfortunatley there was a motive behind their "Big 12 exception" along with the Notre Dame exception. Just too many hoops for USF to get through, even if they are 10-2.

It will eventually change. But I just don't see that swing happening.

UL's poor sales was a leading motivator behind the "Big 12 exception." They had a decent crowd, but the stadium was about 10,000 short of a sellout on paper.

correction

Miami in 2004 went to the Peach Bowl to play UF. FSU went to Gator to play FSU.

UM was in ACC so WV did NOT take their place in Gator Bowl

You are correct, I apologize. I just remember the Miami/Gator Bowl war. The Gator Bowl eventually took Miami after the 1999 season, it turned out to be the worst attended Gator Bowl in modern Gator Bowl history...43,416.

We are going to struggle just like Miami in taking fans to smaller bowl games. Lets face it there is not much excitement for casual fans in major cities in Fla to go up north and see a meaningless small bowl game.

Now I do think USF will draw better in Gator Bowl because unlike UM we have not been spolied by Big Bowl apperances.

So a close ride to a Bowl still considered big in our fans eyes vs an ACC school, maybe even FSU would be VERY appealing.

So i do think if USF gets Gator Bowl invite we could take 10,000

I do think an FSU/USF game would get the most consideration and would be our best shot.

IMO in 5 yrs the attendance  issue may be moot.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
