Laugh all you want, but ECU would be a solid choice if we should ever add another team.

Some people are just too young to remember that ECU has had a lot more success on the gridiron than UCF, or us for that matter. The BE affiliation would only help the football and basketball programs.

You'd still have Cuse, UConn, Cincy, and Louisville. I think basketball clout will be safe.

Losing Nova, St Johns, Marquette, DePaul, you'll need to bring in at least one hoops powerhouse if at all possible. C'mon Joe, if it's a basketball split, Memphis is a no brainer for first choice.

No, I don't think our entrance into the BE was soley dependent on BC leaving. I think Tranghese saw that usf would be added because of our all around stat lines from athletics, academics, and the tv market.

Cincy and louisville were invited to replace UM and VT. We were not invited until BC decided to leave for the ACC.

UL was in for football 1st and bball 2nd

UC marq ect where brought in for Bball, to max the bball image.

they needed more football power and choose usf as the most likely to go Big Time with the help of the BCS tag

if BC had stayed we may have come in as the 9th football only or not!

and wvu with huggy bear

you would not "need " to add a bball team. you would add the "best fit"

memphis and ecu still lead the list of reality based potentials

Who cares, this really a moot point.  Right now, the BE is solid, and all the schools know that.

Yes, it is exactly why we received the invitation. USF only became mentioned to the Big East after it was announced that BC was leaving.

If the Big East can boot 2 bball schools w/o football programs, I say add UCF and Marshall.  They'd be great additions, especially UCF because it would make our rivalry that much more intense.. same with WVU/Marshall.

Everyone who doesnt want UCF in the Big East is just AFRAID that UCF will get up to par with us.   ::) If you're that confident in our program, you wouldn't fear other state programs in our conference.  Did you see FSU run scared when UM came to the ACC?

Um, I think UM was already "on par" with FSU before they joined the BE. That move didn't affect FSU one iota.

If you don't think that a move to a BCS conference by UCF in the next five years would have a negative effect on USF, you're being naive.

So you're admitting that you're afraid of UCF if they joined our conference?  You afraid they'll steal recruits from us?  Jesus Christ.  Have some faith in our program.  There's enough talent in the state to supply the entire nation.  If they join, I'll accept the challenge, even if it's in our conference.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
