I said that he was the best coach that we have "hired in a long long time."

Not ever.

You might try scrolling up the page a bit.  I quoted your post verbatim.  You said this was the most "distinguished" coach we'd hired in a "long, long time," but after you'd proclaimed this the BEST hire EVER.

the only thing i fear with Stan Heath is that he could be a Ron Zook: a good (not great) coach who followed a legend and couldnt fit the bill of a school with high expectations.  like zook, heath is an amazing recruiter but couldnt get it done in conference.

Um...suspect analogy considering the fact that a) Heath isn't following a legend (CRM didn't sniff post season play let alone a national championship and B) USF's hoops expectations are far from UF's football expectations.

Everyone acts like Ark was in great shape when he got there.

He has coached a total of 5 years in D-1A..

First year he took Kent State to 30-8 and an elite 8 apperance.

Took over an Ark team that was not in good shape.

Got them back to the tourny in year 3 and lost in the first round.

this past year they went to the SEC final and lost in the first round.

come on guys.

We have made the NCAA tourny in 15 years.

This guy has been to it 3 of the 5 years he has coached in D-1A.

I think the analogy he was making was Heath at UAF following Richardson .... not here.

Gotcha, makes much more sense. My bad.

With regard to Todd Wright, I've always been a fan.  He was the class of local talk radio back in the day and could always be counted on to know his stuff.  Unfortunately, he moved on to bigger and better things with ESPN and All Night With TW was waaay past my bed time.  I'm surprised he took the position he did on the CSH hire, but then again local talk radio guys struggle for calls sometimes.  I wouldn't put it past Todd to be intentionally taking a position he knew would be unpopular to stir up conversation.

Todd with 2 D's!!

Honestly, I wouldve had to heard the interview. It really doesnt sound like something he would say. He's usually very fair and objective.

Honestly, I was kind of shocked myself. He's always been a pretty even keeled guy. I came in towards the end of that part but, trust me, he was pretty animated ... Even at the end of the show, when they were talking about the guests they had, the guy in their with Keck today, not sure who it was, made a comment about Todd "going off on the USF hire".... Odd.
