Yea, we obviously need some big men. We definitely need to recruit grittier players who aren't afraid to mix it up underneath the boards. Verdejo could still be a gem. Much like in football, talent levels are maximized/minimized in the system the player's play in. We will be in the Big East tourney with a record over .500 next year.

The one thing I like about Heath is that he's orginally from Detroit(like me) so I know that passion for basketball is there. Football is to the south what basketball is to the midwest. ****, this is a great hire. Looking at his current roster, we can see that this guy was recruiting all over the place. I know Arkansas is a prestigous program, but this should give us a general idea of his target areas. Florida, Chicago, Detroit, NY, MD, and maybe even a few from Ark. This also shows that Heath is recruits well around the surrounding states....not that it doesn't help to have arkansas attached to your pitch.

We need size and shooters.

Who's our best shooter now?

We've got no 3-pt specialists...

We've got to find starters with the scholarships. If not, I'd rather wait until next year to sign players.

We do have shooters...

Aaron Holmes is a great shooter.

Dante Curry is a great shooter.

Solomon Bozeman is a pretty good shooter, but probably not as good as the other two.

Last year, it was Buck and Bozeman as our shooters... this year it is Curry, Holmes, and Bozeman.

Already an upgrade in quantity of shooters.  And Buck was very streaky.  When he was confident, he made everything.

Varejo doesn't really fit into Heath's system as much as Bozeman, I think he'll be on the bench.

I used to live in Arkansas and have follow Arkansas basketball since then, so I saw a few games this year.

How would you describe Heath's system?

I didn't watch any Arkansas games this year.

I'm quite interested to see what Jesus Verdejo will do in an offence that really gets up the floor.

I agree.  I think that is much more conducive to his style.  He is a great offensive player when the coach is willing to let go of the reigns.  the slow methodical offense of Mac probably was the toughest thing for him to adjust to.

Hmm, I remember saying that to a certain dark sider.  This offense with Mac was not conducive to Zeus, and he looked lost and never picked his spots right and it led to turnovers and tentativeness.  Ironically Zeus' game was more conducive for the Bulls coach he spurned in Seth then for the guy he signed with, Mac.  Zeus is the perfect transition guy, and should fit in like a glove.  It should also benefit Holmes, and Curry, both gave good transition games.

Should also open up opportunities for Howard where he's not going to be forced to always dribble and kick.  He can create and dish.

Bozeman is a great shooter but he has a slow release, and he's short.  Mac and crew were working to speed up the release.  If he can get lessen his shooting motion and speed up his release he will be a very solid back-up PG, and an ace shooter in pinches.

Holmes and Curry have the size to create their own.

Boozeman is a great shooter?

No

Money says Howard is not the starting guard come big east play next  year.

THis program is in for a HUGE makeover.

Verdejo - Howard - and the boys better get better in the offseasn because Heath will not have two guards on the floor that contribute less the 20 points a game.

no way.

The guard play is why we aren't good.

I bet Gransberry is first team all big east next year and gets drafted.

guy is a stud.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
