The USF baseball team beat the UCF Knights 11-4 tonight at Red McEwen Field.  Matt Quevedo pitched a strong 6 1/3 innings, giving up three runs (one earned).  Shawn Sanford pitched the final 7 outs for the Bulls, yielding only one run.  Sanford earned his 8th save of the season.

Offensively the Bulls did whatever they wanted.  Seven Bulls hitters had multiple hits.  Mike Consolmagno, Walter Diaz, Ty Taborelli, Dexter Butler, Nick Cardieri, Joey Angelberger, and Braulio Pardo all had two hits each.  Taborelli led the team with 4 RBIs.  The Bulls scored all of their runs in only two innings.  Five scored in the 4th inning, while 6 scored in the 7th when the game was close.

The Bulls are now 23-9 overall, and have a 6-3 Big East record.  USF hosts West Virginia on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday this weekend for a big conference meeting.

Come out and support the team this weekend!  Great job Bulls!

Diaz's triple in his first AB was a thing of beauty.  He had the Knight's fat ass center-fielder running backwards like O'Leary towards a buffet line.

Oh, and Kiko Vasquez?  Lose like 80 pounds.

Have a nice bus ride back to Mickeytown, tinmen.  We'll see you in a few weeks for another butt kicking.  Thanks for coming out.

An absolutely beautiful night at the Red, with students giving the very few vocal UCF fans a deserved earful.  It looked like about 50 UCF fans (including moms and dads), but they sounded more like 3.

Heckle of the "Knight":

"Hey Knight fans....can't you beat us at ANYTHING?"

I was sitting next to the dude who came up with that gem.  Brought the house down!

I thought I saw you walking around, Ricky....

Great stuff, keep it coming.  Would love to hear more about the cheers from the students and other fans.

Its fun to beat up on little brother constantly isn't it?

My three year old son screamed at the pitcher (at the most opportune quiet moment)  "HEY!  You throw like a girl!"

Quevedo is now 3-0 on the season.  Not bad for a Freshman.  Does anyone know the status of Daniel Thomas?  We could use him this weekend, if he's at full strength..

He was held out tonight because of the injury, but haven't heard when he'll be ready.
