"Sleeping Giant" was a Greenberg thing..

But in 1996 he left for South Florida, which he then called a "sleeping giant," and Conference USA, which he said would in time produce a national champion....

"Pregnant with possiblities" was a McCullum thing..

"It's a program that's pregnant with possibilities and a university that's pregnant with possibilities," said McCullum, who signed a six-year deal worth ...

Hey its better than our new coach coming in and saying that USF is "pregnant with possibilities".

I knew we were in trouble with CRM when he dropped that line during his introductory presser.

We are a sleeping giant, and while it's become one of the most dreaded cliches in sports its true. There is NO reason why USF can't win in basketball. They are the same reasons why USF is blowing by the best of expectations in football.

We got the right coach and we have a vision. Is Heath the savior? Who knows but we at least have hope now to take advantage of all the built advantages this program has to offer, yet Vitale and the mustache boys opt to ignore.

I hate when you guys do this. You start a thread and then give no details whatsoever with no link!!! Who said what and where? Don't just say someone called us a sleeping giant and leave the rest of us in the dark. I know I'm not the only one! IMHO  :)

Heath used the phrase "sleeping giant" during his BayNews9 Interview.  Personally, I dont see a problem with the phrase(fingers crossed).  That is how I portray USF to many of my peers at other schools.  meh...GO BULLS!!!

I think our football team is a sleeping giant.  We are only starting to wake up with some national media attention.

But basketball...I hope he's right, but it sure is a deep slumber right now.  As charismatic as Coach Heath is, though, I almost believe him already.

For those that may be interested, there may be another GIANT coming back to the BIG EAST.

Check the B.E. Board.
