Diaz Earns Second BIG EAST Honor Roll Accolade

TAMPA, Fla. (April 2, 2007) – University of South Florida junior shortstop Walter Diaz batted .455 in five games this week, earning his second BIG EAST Honor Roll Award of the season.  

Diaz was 10-22 in five games this week, with eight runs scored and seven RBI. His .455 average included two doubles and 4-of-5 multiple-hit games. Diaz was walked six times, including one intentional walk and was hit by one pitch. He had two stolen bases and made six put outs and had 14 assists in the field. Prior to Sunday's game, Diaz had five consecutive multiple-hit outings.  

Diaz is currently riding a 13-game hitting streak. Diaz is 23-for-50 (.460) in the past 13 games with 10 RBI and 16 runs scored. He has registered three doubles and a home run while drawing 16 walks, one of which was intentional. Diaz has also stolen six bases in that time.
