One-on-one, who's the best USF bball player ever?

Who would you choose to defend your family honors on the court in a one-on-one game?

I know some of you will talk about guys from the Late Stone Age (Neolithic) Era... If you do, explain why because we will say, "Who dat?"

Give me Dobras!

one on one?  geez, i never saw the old guys so i can't choose any of them, so since 96... one on one, i'd have to take someone that can beat someone off the dribble, or post up, or shoot decent range... have to be Baxter, under the circumstances.  I'm sure there were better 1 on 1 players prior to 96-97 season, but that is out of my era.

I think it would have to be Dobras as well.  He did a whole lot, shoot, pass, rebound - run the point, #2 guard.  A leader.  FTs - everything.

Still like Chucky as the next best.  Chucky, like Radenko, made everyone around him better.

Dobras was a great team player but Chucky would run him in circles in a game of one-on-one.

My guess would be Chucky, although I never saw him play in a Bulls uniform. I really hate to pick somebody from the Greenberg era because none of them really could break down the opponent off the dribble except maybe Tron.

Charlie Bradley had the best offensive skills and Chucky has speed and ballhandling. But Gary Alexander could back anyone into the paint and score on them. It would be a grinding 1-on-1 game.

Neither could handle the ball very well, but it certainly would make an interesting on-on-one exhibition.  Alexander vs. Shahid - the throw down.

I think the winner would be someone who is a tenacious defender with size and average to good offensive skills.  I think that would give us Fred Lewis, Vince Reynolds, BB Waldon, and Gary Alexander.  I think that size is a necessary component because without it the big guys can just bully their way in the paint for the high percentage shot.  Smaller players could win, but their outside shot would have to be on and stay on.  A bigger man who can move his feet to defend the smaller guys yet the size to stop big guys from waltzing into the paint would be ideal.  Of course having an offensive mindset is necessary also, which I think would leave Shahid out.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
