stan heath is the man, he needs to be hired now. we shouldnt be waiting around because someone could pluck him away fast

If we had a ton of money to throw at Heath, or anyone else, the deal would be done, I am pretty sure.    I am sure DW has spoken with Heath, numbers have come up, and Heath is waiting to see what else opens up while also keeping in touch with DW.  Just because we want Heath doesn't mean we are his top choice.

I will say it again, should have got huggins when we had the chance.

And it will be said again, we NEVER had a chance at Huggins coming here.

Guess I don't know the exact reason you're saying that, but if it were purely as a college vs. college scenario of which one would be chosen by Huggins...pretty sad that USF would lose out to Kansas State.

You usually don't fire someone until you have a pretty good idea who you are going to replace him with.

Did we just fire mac and they say "Ok, now we have to go find a coach."

That is not a good way to manage the process.

my 2 cents.

Most AD's will tell you that's usually how its done...however, at some schools...it certainly hasn't played out that way.

I didnt even know USF ever offered the job to anyone officially yet, so I dont see why these media types think that USF keeps getting rejected by all these coaches.

Schools usually never officially offer a job to anyone unless they know in advance (through their agents/lawyers) that said coach will say yes.

It saves both sides an embarrassing situation.

Almost like proposing to a chick...you don't do it unless you really know the answer well in advance!

Huggins would be here if we offered him the job

Only to someone with green and gold glasses on... and someone who doesn't understand the world of college hoops.

By the way, with all of your criticsms abiut the process Woolard has used, how would you have conducted the search?

Easy...I would of fired RMC last year and signed Huggins to a $650,000-$700,000 year contract. (FYI...Kansas State had to over-pay for his services...because said school is located in Manhanttan, KANSAS! Believe Huggy would of signed with USF...to coach at a school in TAMPA, FL...and oh...and chance to shove it back to all the schools in the BIG EAST...especially Cinci!)

If the above scenario would of played out, it would of been USF that would have a consensus Top 5 (many recruiting services ranked Huggins incoming class at #1) recruiting class instead of KSU.

Don't think Heath or anyone else on the board would ever bring a Top 5 class for USF, let alone before Huggins coached his first ever game (KSU signees were from first week in Nov...before KSU even played a GAME!).

Most AD's will tell you that's how they'd LIKE it to be done. It rarely plays out that way... Thanks for playing.   [smiley=loser.gif]

It actually plays out that way a lot of times.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
