This process has been handled great.

What was I thinking.

That was easy.

Does anyone have an ESPN insider password?

Could you post Andy Katz's coaching update from  yesterday...

It has info on USF

I don't get how this is being handled bad by DW...with UF in the title game, I might hold all offers until that potential avalanche.  The only thing at stake is some time in the late period of recruiting in which even the best teams are simply scavenging.  I might take a wait and see here if I were in charge.  Hell, the game is tomorrow.  Could be a lot of movement and some great options out there.  Come on Hermie/JoeBulls you have been spitting out let's sign "latest name" for the last few weeks.  Why not just be patient and get the best.  I don't see DW taking this time to just hire somebody.

I'm not overly impressed with Heath, but he is known to be a good recruiter.  Come to think of it that is his forte, the HC position may not be.  Some feel he will not be an HC at a major university right now.

I think Gregg Marshall would have been a good choice.  Maybe he'll change his mind again?

Go Bulls!

don't want him now

If you think this has been handled in a poor manner, it simply shows you have no understanding of high level negotiations or PR.  This is not politics where you float a trial balloon to see if your choice is a popular one.  How silly!!!!

You don't show your hand and let an agent or candidate float other rumors so you drive the salary demands higher.  If you are hiring for the long term good of the program, you conduct a proper coaching search.  You don't jump at the name that the press throws out there every other day.  You don't hire a guy simply on his reputation.  You don't negotiate in the press.  Who cares what the writers think for the time being about the way this is being handled.  They are just pissed because it makes their job more difficult.  Who cares what we think is going on?  Whatever we think is going on probably isn't.  Just because you don't understand the process doesn't mean it isn't being done professionally.

My favorite statement about things like this is that you don't know what you don't know.

This is a pretty sophisticated game of posturing best done by professionals.  Woolard is a true professional.  He knows what he is doing.

really? i dont recall saying that, but ok, if you say so.

if anything i am against the majority of the guys we  have been seriously looking at.  the ones i (and most of us) really want said no thanks before  we could even ask.  go figure.  but ya we are looking solid, probably picking up so many new fans right now.  our choices are endless.  everything is great so far in our search. go bulls  ::)

......... Oh yeah, just something to think about as far as public posturing goes....... doesn't anyone find it interesting that by all accounts the meeting with Heath seemed to go pretty well.  Then somehow word leaked out that there were  a couple of other "unnamed schools" he was talking to.  Then all of a sudden  the next day there are rumors going around that we have either already hired Gottfried or the hiring of O'Neil was imminent or that all of a sudden Pelphrey is back in the mix.  You don't think there is some sort of game going on behind the scenes?

At this point we don't know what to believe and who is starting the rumors and for what purpose.  Negotiations at a relatively high salary are a game.  The higher the salary, the bigger the game.  Especially when it is in the public eye.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
