The selection of prospects and  the managing of the media.

It looks like we don't have a plan.

It looks like we are walking around the country trying to convince someone to come coach our basketball team.

That is not how good companies approach a hiring decision.

It has made our program look second rate.

Do you think the media has been handled well?

Do you think the prospecting has been done in a smart way?

The more this goes on, the more it looks like woolard doesn't even have a plan.

Its not the time period that has elapsed, its the failure to manage the process.

In 2 weeks we have had about 5 guys just take a big fat dump on our school and its program in the name "not intrested in that program."

I think from a P.R. perspective woolard gets about a "D."

There is certainly a plan and since the local media is really privy to it, there seems to be a sense that things are wrong. I applaud DW for not speaking with the media about the search. That is not his job. His job is to find a coach and I am fully confident he is working very hard this weekend in Atlanta.

While there have been some leaks about who might have "interest", the actual search has been conducted the way it should be.

Life is never perfect, learn to deal with adversity.  Set stretch goals, but understand that they are stretch goals.  That is dealing with realistic expectations.  Whining because the media has been writing rumors isn't realistic.  Maybe I expect too much from USF fans.  I guess expecting them to be realistic is too much of a stretch.

Woolard has definitely conducted this in a professional manner.  Some people just don't understand what this dance is like.

By the way, since you've only been on this site for a mere month, and I was off the site for that entire period of time, this post tells me that we have another person using multiple personalities on this board.  You are correct in that I've had to repeatedly point out that USF fans are unrealistic and few have an understanding of college athletics.  Too bad you aren't an honest enough person to just use one login.

Very true. I am not surprised that a new coach has not been named yet. I have felt that will be announced sometime this week. Imagine if we had hired someone before Heath had been fired. Now I am not saying we will land Heath, but it's a chance that we wouldn't have had if DW hired someone too soon.

The perception is that USF is having a lot of trouble finding a decent coach

Yes, and the perception that those coaches do not want to coach at this program because of its reputation is out there too.  Media made up or not.

this coaching search is not giving us good press locally or nationally.

You are the ultimate:

The perception is that USF is having a lot of trouble finding a decent coach --- and I think that looks really bad after you just fired a guy.

Perception to whom? Do you think coaches are dumb enough to get their opinions from the media? Anyone sincerely interested in the job will go to people they trust in the "business" to help form their opinion. Who gives a **** what anyone else thinks.

If DW did what you wnat him to, he'd spend half his time calling press conferences. I'd prefer he devote 100% of his time to getting us a coach.

Keep your head under that pillow trip.

This process has been handled great.

What was I thinking.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
