This is the part we should be concerned about.

We'll see if he's telling the truth. I can see a school like Iowa making contact, but I think their fan base would be a lil pissed about that hire.

Yep, there are some big name schools without coaches... we are pretty low on the pecking order. Glad to see at least mutual interest though. It is a good start.

The "Big Name" schools still searching for coaches outside of USF are:

Kentucky - No chance they court Heath

Michigan - Slim chance they court Heath

Iowa - Wouldn't be surprised if they went after Heath, but I think they will look elsewhere

Colorado - Seems like they have been looking for a coach longer than we have. Heath might get a look there, but I would be shocked if he had interest

Heath is from Detroit.   Why would there be a slim chance he goes to Michigan?

If Woolard is serious about Heath, Woolard may have to act fast. Heath told me he’s also been contacted by two other schools – he wouldn’t indicate which ones – and likely will meet with them in Atlanta.

This is the part we should be concerned about.

You believe it?

He could be meeting with FRIENDS from other schools...that don't have any openings...and still be telling the TRUTH!

He needs to try and build up his leverage.

Believe only 5 jobs (besides Arkansas, which Heath obviously won't be hired back) are currently open in the Top 6 Basketball Conferences:

Kentucky

Michigan

Iowa

Colorado

USF

Hard to see Heath at UK...and probably won't be heading to Iowa or Michigan.

Believe all other openings are at small to mid-major schools.

“The important thing to me is look at the school and do some homework on the school,” Heath said. “Just really figure out what it’s going to take to get the program to a level that the fans and I would be very happy with.”

Wasn't he just gushing over the opportunity at USF on the day he was fired from ARK?  Sounds like he's backing off a bit now.

one reason why i think heath will be our next coach.......

heath has proven he can get a team to the tourney and recruit (he did that at arkansas)  he hasnt proven he can take a team to the NEXT level (which we would be happy with 2 levels before the NEXT level...conference tourney, then ncaas, then win a game in ncaas)

the other big schools that have openings also have way more basketball tradition than we do.  yea, some people say this is a bad job to take...but not for a guy like Stan Heath.  He knows big time basketball, he can recruit like a big time basketball coach.  he can play against big time basketball talent on a regular basis.  he would love to have a job where he can recruit (big east + large school + big city = attraction to recruits) but also have a job where he wasnt expected to make the sweet 16 every year.  he could make the ncaa once every 3 years and USF would be happy.

the only question is...will he take our offer.  i hope DW is smart and offers him a nice base salary but still gives him incentives for season ticket increases.

probably the best candidate thus far.

it would be ironic if he was hired.

would much rather have this guy then any other persont hat has been mentioned.

This guy is 2 steps about Marshall.

He can recruit big time players and has proven he can take his team to the NCAA tourny.

He just took his team to the SEC champ for god sakes.

Is there anything to talk about or then "How much do we need to pay you?"

hire him.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
