Getting back to the NCAA thing, I believe the SEC sent 7 teams last year, and the ACC sent 5 or 6, so its hard for a team in the Big East to get in with these other conferences receiving so many bids.

yea almost all those at-large bids go to ACC, SEC, Big 12, Pac-10, and C-Usa.

we can win the conference tourney and get in.  not too far fetched considering how well we played at ND so far this year.  Plus, I anticipate our team getting better as the season goes along with the coaching staff we have.

So, does the auto bid go to the winner of the regular season or the conference tourney?  I was under the impression it went to the regular season winner.

As I believe Coach Prado said there is no reason we cant dominate in baseball.

The champions of all 29 NCAA Division I conference automatically qualify for the championship, eliminating the need for play-in competitions. The remaining 35 teams will be selected at-large based on NCAA Bylaw 31.3.3 and the Rating Percentage Index (RPI). The Division I Baseball Committee will also consider regular season conference standings and/or conference postseason competition."

that makes it seem like it is the conference tourney champion.

i was looking at last year's 64 teams and both big conferences that only had 1 team each (big east and big 10) that team won both regular season and conference championships.

Here are the numbers I've crunched from last years tourney.  Below is the conference and the number of teams that made it from said conference:

ACC-  6

SEC-  8

Big 12-  8

Conference USA-  5

So that is 19 of the 35 at large bids.  It leaves only 16 at large positions, and this doesn't even include the PAC 10 or the other strong West Coast teams.  I also saw that Stetson (38-22) and Jacksonville (42-17) made it from the A-Sun.  I would think we'd need to be in this range for any postseason hopes.  Stetson won their tourney, so I think that gave them an auto bid.  JU must have had a pretty impressive out of conference record.

Lets just keep winning and see how it turns out.  You know if we are on the bubble it will go to a team with a more recent tradition of playing in the tourney (Stetson).  So we need to make sure there is no reason to take others over USF.
