You don't fire coaches unless you have a few the fans will be excited about IN THE BAG!  

No doubt he's trying his best.  He gets paid great money to do stuff like this and he's a great guy.  But great guys screw up all the time.  You have to have a plan in place and you have to move quick once you make that first contact or people don't feel special and lose interest and it gives their universities plenty of time to make some phone calls to drum up extra cash to keep them.

Stealing a coach is something you have to do very quickly to get the best bang for your buck.  Once you've put the money out there, every $300K coach is now going to cost you $800K even though they aren't "worth double" as the next coach will be unproven more than likely or a previous failure if they are "dying to come here".  Neither of those is worth $800K.

Heath on the other hand has a big reason to come to USF.  It's one of the few remaining gigs where he'd be a big fish and if he can pull off a miracle be in a better place than he was at Arkansas.  Only in the Big East or ACC can you do that.

It will be interesting and from the candidates I think who would say yes, he's probably the best one for where we are NOW.

Whoever gets Heath might also get Eric Beverly, the Freshman Player of the Year in the SEC.  He is very unhappy about the coaching change, rumor has it.  I'd be OK with Heath.  I think he'd be a step up from the previous regime.

If Beverly is coming with him, then Heath better have that contract on his desk yesterday.  For a kid to transfer with a coach who is good like that, it brings you instant credibility and recruits see that.  Make the offer!!!  Make the offer!!!
