I hope Mr. Heath is willing to take a paycut. He got arount 800k at Arkansas last year, but will probably be seeing more around 600-650k here.

I'm sure we'll hear a lot this weekend as anyone who is anyone in basketball will be in ATL.

I think if you get fired then you probably should expect a pay cut.

He also got a $900k buyout over the next 3 years ( I think) so add that to our $600k and now he is actually getting paid more to coach us than he did coaching Ark last year (if he still gets buyout-not sure how it works when he gets a new job).

Just read an article on the Heath firing.  If we works anywhere that pays him more than 300K, Arkansas dosen't owe him anything.  If he is paid 250K, Arkansas owes him 50K.  

that makes sense I guess but why wouldn't they be on the hook for his whole salary then? Was it not guaranteed?

The Final Four is a traditional time for coaching interviews, this is the NCAA's version of a job fair.  I would not be surprised if DW talks to Heath this weekend.

For those wondering about Heath's history, I think that he didn't meet expectations.  He took over for 2002-2003 season right after Nolan Richardson.  His record for his five years:

9-19 (4-12)

12-16 (4-12)

18-12 (6-10)

22-10 (10-6)

21-14 (7-9)

He also has had 3 top 25 recruiting classes.  Had 7 juniors on this years team, 3 frosh and 2 soph.  Scoring has improved every year, except this year when it slipped 2 points per game (went from 61 pts per game to 71 points per game).

so basically... he can recruit with the best of the, and get teams to the tournament in tough leagues, and he trends upward over time with his wins.   I'm sold.
