All you Huggy-lovers are assuming that the rumors were true. When you are an unemployed coach you need to use another school to help leverage the negotiations. If we were "involved" at all, it was most likely a facade, and we were there to help Huggy get more out of K-State.

^ Did we wait one year too long to fire Mac??

Huggy, #1 recruiting class in the nation, big Nike deal.

Does the school or the coach get the money from Nike?

All you Huggy-Haters are assuming the rumor was false...When your progam is in shambles, and you have no fan support, you assume that it should remain that way.

I think your Huggy love fest is supposed to be on the other board...

BTW, you're the one assuming.

Holy crap, I'm speechless...

That was painfully brief.

I'm not sure how the deal is structured. I'll bet it's greatly beneficial to both.

FALSE.

Both sides are assuming.

Okay, I have a 6 year old I can argue with in person.

I bet he agrees that passing on you-know-who was a big mistake.

I have a problem with the article and the Trib, in general.  As a subscriber, it's all I can do to pay for the paper in good conscience.  If St. Pete Times was a little closer to my home....

Anyways....this coach not leaving Winthrop for an opportunity in the Big East....think about it....you can make great money with a lot less pressure.  What's wrong with that job?  I have had numerous opportunities to work for larger, more high profile companies, than my current one but there was one problem.  Yes, they paid more, but the element overlooked is quality of life.  I have loved my situation and wouldn't have traded it for $100K more.  An additional $150K might have been a different story but I don't know.  There is more to life than the company (or basketball program) than hands you your paycheck.  Given his situation, I don't know if I would have seen it any differently than he did.  He obviously has a situation that works for him...if you can leverage an offer to "get more", why not?  Good for Coach Marshall.
