Sounds like this guy (or his wife) simply doesn't want to leave home.  This hs nothing to do with USF or the program or the money we are offering.  I

LOL, right...Nothing to do with USF or the program. Good one.

Time to get Mike Jarvis on the phone.

No way would I want Jarvis here.  I never liked him at St. Johns and definitely don't want him here.

If a coach doesn't want to move to the Big East for about $800,000 a year when he is going to settle for $400,000 a year and doesn't want to accept the challenge of building  competitive program, then he's not a guy I would want anyway.  He's either lazy or lost his fire.  No way is Marshall not coming here about USF.

I'm sure this is just emotions talking.

I don't think the guy is either lazy or lost his fire.  If anything, he is smart.  Besides, when you make that kind of money (in the hundreds of thousands), there are more important things in your life than $$$.  The difference between $400K and $800K may not be so significant considering other factors:  family, job security (ten year extension), name recognition within the Winthrop's community, etc.

And I don't think Marshall wasted USF's time either.  We all know college basketball (sports as a whole for that matter) is a business.  He made a wise business decision.

Guys, let him stay in SC.  We can't blame him for wanting to stay there.

Look at CJL... how do you think Alabama (twice) and K-State fans felt when he turned them down?

CJL feels comfortable here... in his home state.

Let’s move on... we'll get someone.

I hope Doug Woolard gives Coach Lowery of Southern Illinois a call!

Actually I don't think it had to do with his home state.

I think it had to do with USF winning 10 conference games in 4 years -- Zero road conference games in 2 1/2 year -- and the last time they made the tournament he was probably playing basketball in college.

If he was so loyal to Winthrop he wouldn't have been looking for a chance to interview at USF 4 years ago.

I think he looked at USF and said -"To big of a risk. Nobody has won here since the Regan Administration - every coach has either been been fired here or run out of town in the last 20 years, no way I am risking all I have accomlpished at Winthrop for this place, I'll pass and wait for a better oppurtunity."

I understand, but I think USF is night and day from what i was when RMC took this program over 4 years ago.

I think the next coach is going to win a lot of games here.

he made an offer and the guy said no thanks.

there is nothing wrong with that.

he doesn't' think this is the right place to be.  no probelm.

Whats the big deal.

Somebody will jump at the chance to work here.

It will more likely be a coach who is not currently employed too.

the obsession continues.  ;D  Would the Harricks even want our job?

I don't think "wanting our job" is included in the criteria for bandying a name around here...   ;)

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
