Pete Gillen Interviewed with DW

Gillen would be an upgrade to ANY B-ball coach that ever stepped foot on USF's campus. But, no offense to him, he still isn't good enough. To me, that had better just be a courtesy interview or the program is still a LONG way from ever competing in the Big East year-in and year-out.

Just my two cents...

A man with a BE title under his belt isnt good enough to compete in the BE?

I think you need to worry about your Buckeyes and give the whole bad guy thing a break.

Gillien is My top candidate right now .

If you cant have a ford  - a chevy will have to do.

I like how he really wants the job.

He won some big games at Providence.

Why Ari? He's not my 1st choice, but why shouldn't we hire a guy who has won at a low major?

It didn't seem to bother Pitt (Ben Howland); Villanova (Jay Wright); Providence (Tim Welsh); West Virginia (Beilein); Georgetown (JTIII);  Seton Hall (Bobby Gonzalez)

Why on this earth are we getting up in arms about possbily hiring a successful coach who has learned from 3 Hall of Fame coaches?

Some people on this board just piss me off.

I don't know man.

They guy just doesn't seem that impressive.  I understand the being around top coaches, but maybe its the South Alabama thing.

Plus -- has he really won that much at the lower level?

2 20 win seasons in a row.

This year he replaced 3 senior starters and 2 others off the bench...Really easy at a low major...

I dont care what the "know it alls" are saying.  Pelphry does not automatically make USF a desireable place to play.  thats what we need>

Jay Wright and Villanova does,  Ben howland and PITT does, John Thompson III and GEORGETOWN does, Bobby Gonzales and SETON HALL does.

USF is not a brand name, i never thought Gillen would sound so great,  No Pelphrey, lets let Kentuchy get him LOL!

Might as well just bring in Matt Doherty for the name and shock value.  USF isnt a stepping stone job like we all said, it would take someone like a bobby Huggins or Matt Doherty.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
