I can say first hand that a bunch of people love the Pacfic NW and would consider Tampa "the sticks"

Speaking of Westerners engrained in their current geography...whatever happened to Mike Montgomery, the famed Stanford coach that went to the NBA and has since been fired?

Sounds like path of Pitino and Calipari...

I once met Mike Montgomery at a bar in Atlanta a few years back when they hosted the Final Four.  Nice guy.  Always liked him as a college coach.

He's considered to be a shoo-in to take over Santa Clara now that **** Davey is retiring.  He wouldn't have to move and he doesn't need the money after the Warriors bought out his contract.

I think Chris Lowery is now at the top of my wish list.  I thought I read somewhere (maybe this board) that Woolard had some sort of connection with him.

Woolard's an SIU graduate. And when he was AD at Saint Louis, he tried to get Bruce Weber when he was at SIU.

Guest BasketBull.

He just became my number one...

Anyone that can beat up Seth's team, which beat Duke, with a mid-major program and also get them ranked in the top 15 has my vote.

BeachBull is a faculty member at SIU.  He said that Lowery is likely to go to Minnesota.  They have him targeted as their top candidate.  I wouldn't hold out too much hope for Lowery.

I'm friends with a guy who recently graduated from SIU. Their basketball program is doing all the right things and so is their coach. The teams RPI is at #7 right now and we all know who is responsible for that. There is a good chance they could make it into the Elite 8 at least, so to have Lowery at USF will not only rejuvinate this program, it would turn it into a Big East power. Only 2 big east football schools made it into the tourny this year and if Lowery comes aboard, there is a good chance we could be Big East Champs in Football and Basketball in the same year 5 years from now.

Lowery in '07!

I'm pretty sure he's going to be the next coach at Utah.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
