USF Women’s Soccer Team Will Hold Tryouts For 2007 Squad On Sept. 5

TAMPA, Fla. (March 12, 2007) – The University of South Florida women’s soccer coaching staff will host tryouts for the 2007 team on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007 at 7 a.m.  

Ladies wanting to try out for the 2007 squad must be enrolled as a full-time student and must pick up tryout packets from head coach Denise Schilte-Brown in the women’s soccer office, located in the Intercollegiate Athletics Building. To contact Schilte-Brown, please call her at (813) 974-4026 or by e-mail at dschilte@admin.usf.edu to schedule a pick-up time. The information packets must be returned to the USF women’s soccer coaching staff by August 31 in order to participate in the tryout.  

Information packets include the following forms: liability waiver, NCAA drug testing consent, pre-participation physical forms, health and personal information forms, tryout clearance and biological specimen testing forms.  

The Bulls are coached by Schilte-Brown, who, in 2007, will enter her first season with the Bulls.  

Schilte-Brown formerly led Virginia Commonwealth to the NCAA Women’s Soccer College Cup in 2004 and 2005. During her seven years at VCU, Schilte-Brown led the Rams to a 77-51-17 record, including back-to-back Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) conference championships in 2004 and 2005 and a third-place finish in 2006.  

In 2005 Schilte-Brown’s Black and Gold was unbeaten in the conference, posting a 9-0-2 record, and made their second-consecutive appearance in the NCAA Women’s College Cup, earning their first-ever NCAA tournament victory, a 3-1 win over Clemson.  

In 2001 Schilte-Brown was recognized as the CAA Coach of the Year and in 2002 she was the runner-up for the Soccer Buzz Coach of the Year for the Mid-Atlantic region.
