I was thinking Calipari the last few days - but I didn't mention because of $$.  But wouldn't he love to get out of C-DOA and coach in a real league?  Or maybe he likes the C-DOA automatic berth every year...

That is star power right there.

Cal would be great, but a few things.

1) He was actually against Memphis joining the BE when the expansion was announced because of fears that the conference would be too hard.

2) He's the lead candidate for the UK job should it open.

3) He required massive renovations for their practice facility, most of which was paid by boosters.

I just don't believe this would be a realistic candidate at this point.

Joe - I agree 100%.  Certainly isn't realistic because we don't have the cash.  However, if we had the cash....

Sadly, our Mens BB problems now run deeper than wins and losses.  We need a guy who can (1) resurrect the team and (2) have enough remaining energy to have a presence on campus and around the Bay area to rebuild our team's goodwill (ie. the job Bruce Pearl has done at UT the last two years).

We should think about going young and also hiring a guy who is ready for a university that "longer on passion than it is on tradition".

Calipari turned down $1.5 million a year to Coach NC State.

Funny on here how some think young is 35 and some think young is 48.  I guess it depends on how old you are.

Cal would be a nice pick but no way can we match what Memphis does for him.

Longer on passion than tradition? USF? How about "longing for passion"? Remember, this board is not indicative of the typical USF student or alumni....
