T.V. Schedule: Football

So, we have 3 games on ESPN right now- maybe a 4th in the works down the road.  I know it's early, but does anyone know when the stations will announce their lineup?  Do we still have a deal with Fox Sports-Florida or Sunshine?

I think the only TV deal USF has is with ESPN Regional who does their TV Marketing. Usually we have 6 games shown on TV, so we can expect at least three more which will probably be on FSN and/or the local ABC affiliate.

As to when additional TV games will be announced, it could be sometime in August or even in September as has been the case previously:

USF Football Games at Arkansas, North Texas

TAMPA, FL (Sept. 5, 2002) - The University of South

Florida and ESPN Regional TV have cleared USF’s football games to be televised live on WMOR TV 32 in the Tampa Bay market, USF director of athletics Lee Roy Selmon announced today. Previously, USF and ESPN Regional announced Fox Sports Net (Florida) will air USF games at East Carolina October 19 and Houston November 23, in addition to a tape delay of the October 12 home game against Southern Mississippi.

USF is at Arkansas September 14 (7 eastern) and at North Texas October 5 (8 eastern). Each game will also air the day after the respective live broadcast on WUSF TV 16.

The Bulls’ game at Oklahoma September 28 will also likely end up on television, but final clearance on an outlet is pending.

“We’re very appreciative of our many television partners and their desire to bring our football to the local market,†says Selmon. “We’re especially pleased that it looks like all of our away games will be televised live, allowing our fans to follow us all season.

Selmon also announced the Coach Jim Leavitt Show now airs every Saturday at 11:30 a.m. on ABC-WFTS in the Tampa Bay market.

“ABC’s commitment to USF is greatly appreciated,†says Selmon. “We’re just so pleased to have community partners step up and help us spread our positive message in intercollegiate athletics.â€Â

ABC-WFTS General Manager Sam Stallworth says, “The station is thrilled to be involved as an integral part of the community and associated with such a vibrant athletic program.â€Â

The Leavitt show, produced by ESPN Regional at the WUSF TV-16 studio, also airs on Fox Sports Net at 11 a.m. Saturdays and WUSF at 5:30 p.m.

Maybe when they do televise games they should try televising more AWAY GAMES!!!  Almost every game on TV is a home game, which doesnt do much good considering we are all at the **** game!
