If anything I would question why Brett would take a quote that was a bad attempt at humor by Bianchi and turn it into a legitimate comment in his story...that makes no sense at all.  poor judgment.

If you do not understand why Brett put it in the article then you you never understand why Brett gets paid to write for a living and you are just some guy with a website, which is no different than that hobo on the corner preaching how the end of the world is near.

I think Brett was trying to make Bianchi look more like a negative critic for USF. He should have put that line right after Bianchi's first statements though instead at the very end of the article. The article gets more teeth to it when Brett mentions a jab from Bianchi in my opinion.

...

Orlando Sentinel columnist Mike Bianchi, ... is a believer

Not with this comment.

The average fan that may have become more interested in USF football after the WVU game may have read the paper before the game and thinks that Bianchi is telling the truth.

Bianch basically threw every big school under the bus with that comment including his fav UF. How hard it is to see that Brett was trying to point out that Bianchi is a negative SOB???

I think you're wrong.  Why would he try to invalidate someone that said something good about USF for a change?  And why would an article about the BULLS have anything to do with Bianchi other than to selectively use his quotes.  Seems to be this makes Brett look about invested in the program as Bianchi is.  And I like Brett.  I just don't see the need for the downer from the local guy when nationwide - it's positive.

Brett Mcmurphy is just a bad reporter.  He's miffed about the St. Pete Times sponsorship.  My wife said it best to him at a game this year... "Hey Bret stop making **** up!"

His attitude toward the Bulls this year has been to stir up the pot.  He was responsible for the whole Jim Leavitt "media gate" at the beginning of the season.  I say the Trib needs to step up the plate and fire his ass.  At least for reporting on the Bulls!

Bret's work is out there for everyone to see.  Every minor detail may not work exactly as intended, or may offend someone for some reason unknown to him.  His job isn't to paint a beatiful world of green and gold.  It's to report the news, and sell newspapers.

If hundreds of people followed you around all day at work, I'm quite sure there would be plenty of criticisms that people could pick apart.  Be thankful you job isn't in a glass bowl like Bret's.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
