A great deal of chanting and ribbing between fan groups as they traveled around between establishments in 5-Points tonight- more good natured than anything.... everything turned ugly when Birmingham Police showed up in Force at 5 points Friday night around 11pm and started taking people down in the street, handcuffing them in significant numbers and throwing them in the back of Paddy Wagons. Haven't seen anything like this since the Halloween massacre at Tar River Estates back in the late 80's. Birmingham P.D. really over-reacted and went out of control- knocking down people and even going inside restaurants & establishments and arresting people who happened to be looking out the windows at the melee going on outside. Birmingham P.D. MAJORLY overreacted. Really left a horrible image of their city to visiting fans and patrons.... More on this will emerge as the story gets out further Saturday. Lots of folks with video camera phones caught it all on video Probably will be law suits on this.... I'm shocked at what I saw by the Birmingham P.D. do tonight.

Truly overkill and saddening what they did to those college kids.

You had your own share of idiots there last night too.  I also met some very nice Bulls fans.  Let's hope they can get bailed out today for the game.  So far it's been fun in Birmingham.

From the first "report", sounds like the biggest idiots were the police  :o

It certainly doesn't do much to extend an olive branch when your city is trying to host a bowl.  Something that I think about now is that earlier last night I didn't even see any police at all in the five points area. Sounds like they over acted.

Yeah, I haven't seen anything either, also can't find anything about it online. I guess it's no different in the spectrum of local news, I mean we wouldn't care about a few arrests in Ybor right? That won't get on the news in Tampa. I guess a few beatings and instances of police brutality won't get on the news up here, it's just too commonplace for anyone to care.
