What is more important to a football program ?

Guys forget national championships for now, it's a LONG way off unless we found some severely magical run in which we won every game impressively.

I think many on this board are very naive about how hard it is to win a freaking National Title.

Without looking it up, Guess how many national championships the following schools have in the last 50 years:

Michigan

Ohio State

Texas

LSU

As fans a more feasible expectation is a conference championship and we do need to consistently put guys in the NFL it's a major draw for recruits. I think a combo of a conference championship and NFL players would benefit this program greatly.

As for kids going to schools, they want National Championships, it might not be their sole reason but it is big. When Chris Leak committed to UF during the NBC Army Bowl he invited other recruits to come with him to Florida to win a National Championship.

When Myron Rolle chose Florida State last year he did so for three reasons, liked the school academically, like their ability to produce NFL players, and their ability to be in the National Championship picture (at least in August)

As a fan, Conference championships and graduating players is what is important to me...I could careless about  how many guys we send to NFL.

Winning championships.  By winning championships, the first choice is taken care of naturally.  This will also improve fan base which is very important for longterm health of a program.
