What I wouldn't give for 100,000 ET's as fans of the USF program.  

ET --- you are one of about 20 reasonable posters on this board...thanks for that.

I would love to hear about the storied pasts of these chronic naysayers and their accomplishments on the athletic fields and courts....if you've ever been involved in anything of an athletic nature, winning is not a given and programs that rise to the status of a UF, LSU or USC are uncommon.  Maybe Mac will work out maybe he won't...but the athletes that he has on the court right now are a huge upgrade from what we've had previously.  You can talk about the SunBelt days when we made the tournament....those teams, imo, couldn't hang with our guys today.  Those teams were built around one good shooter...thank God there was no message board back then or people would have had Bobby Paschal escorted out before they made it to the tournament too.  By the way...don't worry, if this team doesn't show up for Big East play, Mac will not be here next year. Maybe we can ask Seth to come back....not!  Speaking of which....in his last two years, I was completely in support of him being shown the door but I still supported the team.  It's the team, not the man.

Wow!  do you honestly think this or any other message board has that kind of power.  Can you show me one message that got a coach fired?

Do you think those of us who are critical of CRM don't support the Bulls?  Would we be here on a Bulls message board venting our frustration if we weren't?  Do you really think we want the team to lose, do you know how stupid that sounds?  We want the team to win and they aren't and haven't for a long time, hence the critical nature of the posts.

I've said it before but I guess it will take about a million times of saying it before the green and gold goggle wearing types get it through their skulls that everybody wants this team to do well.  Everybody wants CRM to succeed but it doesn't appear to some of us that he has the ability to do that.  Most of us have said that we would love a piece of humble pie and to be proven wrong, why can't you guys get that, cause we're not buying the line their selling?

If "John Smith" posted, it would make more sense when "complaining" on a message board. But somebody under an alias stating we suck does nothing.

In all due respects to the founders here, i don't really think Wooly and the boyz spend a lot of time perusing the old message boards before they make key personnel decisions, or for that matter, JL or Mac check in at night after they return from recruiting missions to verify they're offering the right guy.

The purpose of these boards is simple, and worthwhile. It allows FANS to get together and create interest, in a way previously not available.  You or anyone cannot possibly tell me your interest in our beloved alma mater is any LESS because of wonderful forums like this, can you? within the genre, there are no doubt "glass is half full" and "glass is half empty" artists on both sides of any debate, but it's the debate that's the gem  here, in that all of us give enough of a **** to read and post, from time to time, and that, my friends, is the seed of a program.  Without this great board, far less of us would be interested, active or know even a scrap as much as otherwise we do now, simply given the logistical constraints of where we live, work and our free time. SO, RELAX, and like any good, red blooded american, enjoy watching the train wreck as you drive by.....wow, and tell me all you nascar fans don't go just to see a good pair of american breasts and a flaming (but non fatal) accident now and then?

Just because YOU don't like it doesn't mean it has no place.

So explain how it has a place here . . . a place for adults who want to support USF ?

I think I found the problem ET.

This is not necessarily a place for adults who want to support USF.

It is a place for people of all ages to discuss USF.

There is a difference.  While most of us are fans, this is not a "fan site" in the true definition of that term.  It is discussion group to which anyone can be privvy.

This message board is not supposed to "help" USF in any way.  Oh, it does help because as Huey Long said - any publicity is good publicity.  But this is not an extension of the Athletics Department.

Let me say this.  I think criticism is always a good thing.  If prospects and recruits see "USF Sucks" there are two things that could happen.  They could say "Yup, now where was that number to <insert school here>." or they could say "Yup, but if I go there I could turn them around and be the next <insert former USF great here>."

If the Athletics Department sees "USF sucks" they could look for reasons why someone would say such a thing.  They know that for the 'money' programs, the best thing they can do to generate revenue is win games.  Sure, these are student athletes who are getting a free college education -- but to support them in their efforts requires money.  So, they have to find a way to win games with the current resources.

Finally, a note to the Dark Side: in very very very rare circumstances do college coaches get fired during the season.  The time to evaluate CRM is March not December.  If things are not turned around by then, it would be appropriate to launch the "Fire Coach McCullum" websites and start lambasting him.  

Until then, all the wishin' and hopin' and thinkin' and prayin' and plannin' and dreamin' just ain't gonna change anything.

And I thought, wow, wonder that message board looks like right now...

While that is funny, Brad (and it is), I feel the need to point out (once again) that we are not basing our criticism of Coach Mac on just this game (nor any other single game).  This is the FOURTH SEASON of consistently bad basketball.

And just how much of that is really CRM's fault?

Injuries to key players?

Seth Greenberg's marginal recruits bolting the first chance they get?

A player decided he'd rather get paid back home in Europe than play here?

I am willing to say that if CRM had a full compliment of players for all four years and didn't lose anyone -- things would be VASTLY different today.

I am also willing to say that any coach -- and I mean ANY coach -- that had those same issues would have had the same record.

Finally, let me ask this.  If not CRM, who?  Name one person that USF could get to coach this team.  They have to fit both the budget and the culture of USF - so someone like THuggins would not work.
