one thing to consider-- QBs are not unbreakable.

Look at UL these past few years. They have consistantly had another quality guy waiting in the wings. Brohm did it. He got hurt and his backup helped out tremendously.

I don't want to see Matt get hurt mind you-- I'm just saying that having great QB recruits staggered every two years is a great way to remain consistent on the field itself. We should be building depth at all positions but QB is one area I'd love to see that happen.

SO I hope Marve gives USF some serious thought and consideration. And if we don't land him-- please-- for the love of all that is holy ---please do not berate the USF staff for NOT landing him. It is beyond ridiculous how many posters feel like we automatically deserve high recruits like this without considering that we are just not quite "there" yet. He's a great get-- but a longshot.

I think even the Grade A ***** and moaners would have a hard time griping about not landing Marve considering the current and immediate future state of our qb position ......

Yes, it would be a shocker if he wanted it to work out that way, but guys like him usually are competitive enough to believe they can beat out an incumbent -- no matter how good that incumbent may be.

If Robert Marve doesn't have the mindset that he can go win the starting QB job at any given number of schools, I doubt we would want him anyhow.

You want that confidence and tenacity in your QB.  That's a HUGE part of what makes #8 so special.

I agree 100%. And as I stated in the Prospects and Recruits board, Grothe was helped off the field THREE times this season. At USF, the backup QB truly IS "1 play away"...

Being in TX, I have not seen Marve play.  But if everything I am hearing is correct and he is that good.  Then (don't kill me for making this statement, I like MG as much as anyone) could he actually be as good or better than MG and possibly beat him out.  Would he be gauranteed to sit for 3 years, or would they find PT for him like Tebow.

Even if a player is good, like grothe, he would still have to compete for the spot.  It is his now, but if someone came in and just was incredible and blew him away (if that is even possible), then the job could be taken away...  there are no locks, but it would be very tough to beat Matt out the way he's taken the reigns.
