St. Pete Times:

St. Petersburg Catholic coach Michael Moran said from talking with former SPC star Aaron Holmes, the freshman guard's only reason for leaving FSU is to be closer to his family for personal reasons. Holmes is finishing finals this week at FSU before deciding his next move, which probably will include exploring a possible transfer to USF

He wouldn't be eligible this season. He hasn't gotten his release from FSU yet, but that wouldn't stop him from enrolling in classes at USF if he wanted to do so. I've written about him a bit on the blog ...

If he finishes up this semester (Dec '06), he would be eligible to play for USF after the finish of the Dec '07 Semester, after taking his 12-month (1 year) transfered year.

As noted, he can enroll anywhere come Jan '07.

What are his stats at FSU?

IF he did decided to trasfer to USF, what kind of potential impact would he have on the team?

This kid is an absolute beast.  I saw him play a few times as my high school is in the same division as SPC.  He killed us.  His jumpshot is great.  Ballhandling is pretty good.  And he plays some great D.

He would be a great asset to this team.

ON HOLMES: “Aaron spends more time in the gym

him up. He can go off the dribble. He really has it all on offense.

Offensively, he’s the best player I ever had,” said St. Petersburg

play both the shooting guard and small forward positions and

will give the Seminoles another strong shooter at the wing position

… ranked the 65th best player nationally by Rivals.com …

double figures in each game during his senior season … one of

only three players in Pinellas County history to score 2,000 or

In USF's offense, a 2 and 3 (shooting guard or small forward) is basicially the same position -- in losing Mattis and Buckley, small forward remains a priority position in recruiting, so it's a good match for USF, especially considering the Bulls have an unused scholarship available for the spring semester.
