With the number of tickets sold, thought this would be good to bring back up.

Remember, FANS build the Athletic Budget !

another thing to think about is whether USF shoud have accepted the bowl bid in the first place.

I am for it for selfish reasons-- I want more football.

But if you analyze the payout involved and the timing of the game---it may have been in USFs best interest to pass on the game. Maybe not from a recruiting standpoint or a practice standpoint. But from a purely financial scenario. Maybe USF felt it could sell it's allotment (and the jury is still not compeltely in on that thought). But clearly we are not getting the interest we would have liked overall.

It makes you appreciate the die hards that much more- those who are willing to give time, energy, and money to the program

NEVER turn down a bowl game ... we'll be getting national exposure that will give us more than we could buy.

And we still come out in the black.

And should NEVER punish our players due to a small fan base.

I doubt we come out in the black on this game ET

you missed my point completely

I heard through good sources that last years bowl-- one in which we sold over 6200 tickets of the 12500 we were expected to buy-- that we ended up about $12,000 in the black.

same number of staff/players etc traveling this year plus similar ticket situation WITH a lower bowl payout = we will lose money on this bowl game (in my estimation)

We get money from ALL Big East Bowl games, we won't lose money.

We receive $1.1 million - gross.

Would we forfeit that money if we don't go to our bowl? Probably not since Pitt would jump at the bowl bid. So we end up making more since we don't lose money on this bowl. Maybe only 1.15 million but positive not negative. This bowl may end up costing USF athletics about 100K+ to attend. Perhaps that money is worth it-- I don't dispute it.

SO please stop jumping on me for this since we are talking about the overall scenario and not just what we want.

we have to buy less tix this yr and they are cheaper should be close to break even

but extra practice time and exxposure = positive opportunity cost so from an economic standpoint it will be profitable
