If you look at Miami's Head coaching history they have NEVER gone for the Big Money name. But more for mid level guys looking to move up.

Which is why I'm amazed when Miami fans talk about potential head coaches.  They don't realize the financial limitations involved.

Miami was going to have to major $$$$ to get a top flight Div 1 coach from another team or the pro ranks and they were going to have to pay major $$$$$ for facility upgrades.  If Shannon didn't get along with that new coach and left, they would have to lose recruits that were already in the pipeline.  Regardless, I think they were going to have to pay Shannon more money anyway to stay with a new coach.  They've saved considerable $$$$ going this route.  We'll just have to see if they will still be strong and can slowly upgrade facilities over time instead of having huge outlays immediately.  Economically speaking and recruiting wise, I think it was a good move.  I just hope it sends a different message to some recruits and they come to USF.

Shannon gets a better OC by alot, or Miami should have kept Coker.  This does nothing by itself.  It's a safe hire, but how about the school put the coach in a position for success now that they've made it?  That seems to be a foreign concept to big time football lately.

I don't like that hire at all.  Paul Dee should have been fired along with coker.  Mike Leach from Texas Tech wanted to come to the U, but no.  That coach search was the biggest waste of time ever. >
