ECU has sold a lil less than 4,000 tickets

hey all. latest number i got from Tom Veit today was just over 3,000 tickets sold for USF in three days, which is well ahead of last year's pace (he didn't have a comparable number for last year). East Carolina has sold just over 4,000, according to their assistant ticket manager, but they also got their invite five days before USF ...

And as fun as it was to see the line for free student tickets forming last night -- we'll have a note and picture in Thursday's paper -- as of 3 p.m. this afternoon, there were still some of the 500 available, which doesn't speak well of the student interest as a whole ...

I guess USf is lying?

TAMPA, Fla. -- USF students have claimed all of the 500 complimentary Papajohns.com Bowl tickets purchased by the athletic department and over 140 more companion tickets were also sold by mid-afternoon Wednesday.

Tickets for current USF students went on sale at 9 a.m. Wednesday morning.  

Students who are still interested in purchasing tickets ($30) to the game may do so by visiting the Sun Dome Ticket Office or GoUSFBulls.com

A large group of students set up camp, literally, Tuesday night.  Several tents were set up outside of the Sun Dome Ticket Office and the line grew as the 9 a.m. deadline approached.  Over 350 of the 500 tickets purchased by athletics for the students were accounted for by 9:30 a.m.

I think you are confusing this number with the amount of companion tickets that students were able to buy... but not how many tickets alumni have bought to donate.

It probably does as people like to give the biggest numbers they can.

As for ECU selling less than some were bragging about, they'll probably use the same excuse that has been used in the past by other teams - basically blaming USF as an opponent for the lack of interest.

Don't buy that for a minute.  Not only are we a BE opponent, which they are so desperately trying to get into, but we are also one of the best teams they will face all year.  Fact is, we have sold almost as many in 3 days as they have in 8 days.

We might be lucky to have 10k total (both teams) in the stands.  I don't think this bowl will be back next year if that's the case?

I think that is the primary reason why ECU and USF will not reach the numbers hoped for by their fans rather than who the opponents are.
