and just think, if Pat Julmiste didn't get hurt that first game-- Matt would have never played a single down

my bad on that one, but how bout the percentage stat?

the % is the average for the year, not the highest % of a single game.

It seems that Matt does have 4 of the top 5 % per game ... or maybe it was just for Freshmen ... 4 get where I heard it. Will see if I can discover.

Sure Matt will be on the cover of the Media Guide for the 2007 Season.

What was the score of the first game when Matt came in?  I know I should know but forgot

losing 7-0

McNeese State took an early 7-0 lead following a fumble recovery by Cowboy linebacker Jared Dolan with 35 seconds left in the first quarter. A fumbled snap in the end zone by freshman punter Ilia Petrov resulted in the first-ever fumble recovery in the end zone by a USF opponent.

USF tied the game on the ensuing drive. A 13-play, 66-yard drive, which lasted 5:10, was capped off by a 1-yard quarterback sneak by Grothe. The score, which was the first of his USF career, tied the game at 7-all with 10:25 left in the half. During the drive, Grothe registered his first-ever completion with a 6-yard pass to sophomore Amp Hill. The catch was the first of Hill’s career.

this was taken on Matt's first ever snap in a real game-- and he completed the pass to Amp Hill

And I think that showed how much the coaches had confidence in GrothE.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
