Is Matt Grothe the best quarterback in Florida?

He'd put up some great numbers behind UF's supporting cast. I think Leak, despite the INT problems he's had, has been a catalyst for UF's record this season. His clutch plays against Tennessee, UGA, and South Carolina on Saturday definitly saved the Gators asses.

Grothe would be a strong #2 right now. These last two games, once again, will tell us how good Grothe is against the upper echelon of college football (he did have a good game v. Rutgers depsite the turnovers)

Grothe is hands down the most exciting QB to watch in the state of Florida. Leak is ok, but I dont think he does enough with his legs to hang with Grothe. Tebow is a good runner, but he has struggled at the passing game when given his chance. I wouldnt trade Grothe for any QB in the nation right now, not even Ohio St's Troy Smith.

It depends what system you put the QB in.  I think Leak would be putting up better numbers if he were in a pro style system b/c he can throw the ball well and with the spread he does not do as well.

I also think that the spread is the type of system that works well for Grothe.  He is a playmaker and having the field spread out gives him more options.  

I would not trade Grothe for anything and what everyone has to remember is that he is only a freshman and is already the second if not best QB in the whole state.  I am sure there are more then a few teams kicking themselves for not recruiting him.

Obviously, Grothe is the best man for OUR program. Talk about the right man at the right time. Where would we be without Matt's legs, arm, qiuck decision making, guts, winning attitude, drive and leadership? He's made believers out of the OL, the receivers, the defense, the fans and media. Still waiting on the final word from CJL. Last word after the game on Sat from CJL was "we didn't know how good he was".  I'll let you all be the judge of a comment like that. That's the first public compliment(?) from CJL thus far. Another subject, I'm sure.

Best in Florida? Put it this way-Florida has to use 2 QBs, Leak and Tebow, to get done what we do with Matt Grothe. And they still barely beat South Carolina.

Pound for pound Grothe is the best packaged QB in the State of Florida. The debate in the future will be about a lot larger area than just this state..

Leak is the best QB in Florida right now, but not by much.  Tough games ahead of both QBs late in the season will be the deciding factor IMO.

Leak still has to go to FSU, who will be looking to save their season.  He also has to play a very good Arkansas team in the SEC championship game.

And as we all know Grothe has to go to The Ville and to WV to end the season.

So ask me again in three weeks and I might change my mind.
