Are you 100% sure about that? I believe Brett had an article where he stated Coach leavitt was offered a 6 year deal at Kansas State for $1.5 million a season. That certainly sounds like an offer if they we down to those specifics.

That being said, I don't think Leavitt would leave at this point to take something unless it's an inbelievable job. FSU probably won't be getting rid of Bowden, but if something did happen, I doubt Leavitt would want to follow that...(See: Ron Zook)

Whaaa?  I know the person that represented Bama and had discussions with Leavitt.  It was his job if he committed first!  No final offer was made because Bama was waiting for Leavitt to commit before finalizing and using the proper channels to announce.  KSU had an offer on the table.

Those are facts.  The first I never thought would happen for a number of reasons, the 2nd, Leavitt actually took pause and consulted with some friends about it including Snyder who asked him to consider taking the job.  Many were shocked and relieved he decided to stay with USF for less money.

thankfully CJL turned down the KSU position-- they appear to have gotten a pretty good there anyway

Butch Davis-- from what I have heard is almost a lock to be UNC next HC. He burned bridges at Miami or somethign to that effect. Of course-- that goes against what our resident genius smazza says so I must be wrong.

The guy who might be a good fit from our staff is Wally Burnham. But I get the impression he's kind of like Monte Kiffen-- not really into the whole head coach type of role and happy working with his defense. But you never know and we all know he has big ties to FSU. He certainly seems like someone who could do the job if that is what he wanted. However-- odds are good they would pick someone already in that HC role who is successful instead.
