I think that as long as Bowden is HC at F$U, Paterno stays at Penn St. in order for stay in the "most wins" race.

I have this mental picture of them on the sidelines in wheelchairs and blankets 10 years from now, one determined to outlive the other.

To stay in the most wins race may be Paterno's motivation, but unless he gets PSU turned around very soon, Bowden will have no problem putting distance between him and Paterno within a few years.

Well, Ronnie Banks will no longer be at USF when we play PSU. Since Kraky appears to be healthy and has made great strides this year, it wouldn't surprise me at all if he got into that game.

Why stop at death? I have this image of the 3004 PSU-FSU game being coached by two Futurama-style heads in a jar. By then Joe Paterno will only be 4,500 victories behind Bobby Bowden.

Joe Pa is in much better shape (physically) than Bowden is-- just think back to the way he ran down the refs after that controversial call in a game a year (or was it two) ago. The guy can still motor.

What has happened to Joe is the Big Ten. He had some early success but the Big Ten is one  fo the toughest grinds in college football. I'm not saying that they are better than say the SEC-- but the level of competition and week in/week out battles tear teams apart. In the SEC, you can usually count on a few more give me games and even if they aren't "give me's", the style is more wide open and less the classic "3 yards and a cloud of dust" type.

Just an opinion from a very opinionated fowl mouthed SOB.
