BasketBull, we only had 6 guys last year. 12 will seem like a luxury.

In spite of everything that went wrong last season, the team improved down the stretch. And we return four key players in Leather, Mosley, Swift and Bryant. That's a decent senior nucleus for a young team.

If there is an upside to all the defections, it's that RMc will very quickly have a roster comprised of his own players. The first Big East season will see only one Greenberg recruit on the Bulls roster (Diarra).

RMc's second team at WMU made the NIT after a similarly disastrous first season; let's just wait and see how it goes.

Actually it was his third team that made the NIT, his second team went something like 16-12 in the MAC not good enough for NIT, in C-USA quite possibly good enough.  If we win more than 12 games next year, all bets are off and Mac is our man!

Having made the haul from Orlando to Lakeland today for the Polk Alumni Luncheon, here is my take of things.  I sat less then 10 feet away from Coach Mac, who sat next to Pres. Genshaft.  AD Woolard and his family were also at the same table.  Being at the next table over provided me some time to watch and hear Coach Mac, the new AD and other folks.

Based on what he said today, here is why my faith is up more now then ever.

(1) Student Athletes. . . that is the focus, what proves it?  Highest average GPA in recent history (like 10 years).  Very high in comparision to NCAA averages.  Also, no player will be taking summer school to "make it" they will be taking summer school to get ahead.  All things considered here, that is impressive.

You can argue athletic ability etc... on another post.  The bottom line is these guys are students and for them to have the GPA to prove it shows focus on the part of the members of the team.

(2) Recruiting.  Looking good and sounding better.  B E movement is driving this in a big way.

(3) Improving community involvement.  Which is becoming a bigger scope issue for the university as a whole.  We will do some things with games that haven't been done ever in my memory as a Bull.

Having a chance to watch Coach Mac has increased my faith that he can do things with our team.  Just my 2 cents.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
