What is it with you guys trying to nickname things all the time?

Offseason boredom I guess. I'm not a big fan of making up nicknames, the best ones come naturally.

The Big House was given their name from media talking about the abnormally large size of Michigan's stadium in the 1930s.  The Horse Shoe was given to Ohio State because it was the 1st large stadium...built in the shape of a horse shoe.

However, schools like Miami, FSU, USC, Texas don't have popular nicknames because there is no point. Just my opinion, but I know you're just having fun and some of teh nicknames are very creative ie. (Tamplona)

But look how easily and quick The Swamp become a national name.

I like identity ... and will continue to STAMPEDE !

Ya, but the Swamp got that nickname because it's catchy, it was already regarded as one of the tougher places to play in the country and because Spurrier's offense made people watch Florida football.

When Spurrier said that at a press conference the media ran with it.
