Below are the current names of recruits who have USF as one of their choices according to Rivals and Insiders.

The ranking # next to their names shows where they were placed on the Florida Kids Class of 2005 Top 200 put out by Larry Blustein on June 23, 2003.

http://story.theinsiders.com/a.z?s=359&p=2&c=117426

It's, therefore, an outdated ranking before the 2003 season was even played. The updated list is only available to subscribers at the moment. They probably will put out a new list available to everyone in the summer of 2004, just like they did last year.

I just thought it would be somwhat helpful for those of us who aren't too familiar with all the names:

Haupt is a beast, I saw him play last year and tore up our DL

Some school just offered him today. I don't know which:

Merrit Island OG gets first offer

by FloridaVarsity Staff

Merrit Island (Fla.) offensive guard Eddie Haupt is continuing to see his stock soar, and with that has come his first scholarship offer. The 6-foot-4, 290-pound lineman runs the 40-yard dash in 5.19 seconds and said two schools lead for his services. Will the first offer give that school the edge?

He lists USF and Miami as his Top choices on Rivals:

The Georgia site says it was a Florida school who offered Haupt:

2005 Prospect: Eddie Haupt - 6-4 290# OL from Merritt Island, FLA-will be one of the Sunshine State's top OL prospects in 2005-already has one ship offer in hand from a Sunshine State school, and there are many more ship offers likely coming his way, as several big boys are also already interested in this big blue chipper-he identifies his early top favorites, and hey, the Dawgs are included in that lucky group!!

Another recruit besides Tolley from Wesley Chapel is Nigel Bryant, but he's not shown yet:

Camp Gives Wesley Chapel Duo Exposure

By DARYL PRESGRAVES dpresgraves@tampatrib.com

Published: Apr 6, 2004

Nigel Bryant was faster. Danny Tolley was stronger.

Both Wesley Chapel football players were pleased with Sunday's Nike camp - a prominent combine for high school players - at the University of Miami.

The juniors participated in a preliminary combine last month and both performed better Sunday, though Tolley was limited by a hamstring injury.

``It was a great experience, taking the trip,'' Tolley said. ``We got to go to the facilities and see what the university was all about.''

The camp was not officially sponsored by the university, but players got to use its weight room and practice field.

Tolley, 6-foot-5 and 300 pounds, improved his bench press from 19 to 21 repetitions of 185 pounds, while his vertical leap jumped from 19 to 22 inches.

The offensive lineman said he was confident his 40-yard dash would have been better than the 5.6-second time he posted last month, but he pulled his hamstring with about 10 yards to go and ran a 5.8.

``The rest of the camp I was kind of out of it, but I did what I could,'' he said. ``Some of the guys kind of liked how, even though I was hurt, I pushed through and tried to do what I could.''

Bryant (6-0, 180) was disappointed in the 4.71 40 he ran last month in ``poor conditions''but was excited by the 4.50 he ran Sunday.

The running back also had a 33- inch vertical.

After the testing, about 300 participants broke into position groups to work on conditioning, agility and individual instruction.

``I felt like it went pretty good,'' said Bryant, who ran for 884 yards and 14 touchdowns in the 2003 regular season despite missing time because of ankle injuries. ``I was familiar with some of the drills, so I did better in some than others.''

Wesley Chapel coach John Castelamare said many of the schools inquiring about Bryant like him at safety.

The good news for Bryant and Tolley is they already have qualified academically.

``I told Nigel to try to get to 195 [pounds],'' said Castelamare, who added Bryant has received interest from Florida, South Florida, Iowa and Iowa State. ``They might think about running back then because he's a slashy runner. Him and Tyrone [Tomlin] are totally different runners. Nigel's a Gale Sayers type.''

Tomlin dominated Pasco County in 2001 and 2002, leading the state in touchdowns as a junior with 34.

Tomlin, who will be a sophomore next season at Mesabi Range (Minn.) Community and Technical College, would have been the first Wildcat to attend the Nike camp, but a torn ACL prevented him from participating two years ago.

Bryant and Tolley were proud to be the first.

``Definitely,'' Tolley said. ``We wanted to get out and show what we can do.''

Now is Carlton Hill the man I am to speak to my personal "Almighty Being" on a weekly basis to influence Mr. Hill's subconscious on the virtues of being a USF Bull or is there someone else out there that Coach Leavitt is targeting?  Anyone know differently?

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
