As far as I know ... he hasn't made a decision and USF hasn't offered.

He just played in the Spring game yesterday and is not expected to make a decision until May.

Here is a recent article:

Louisville QB considering Eastern

BY BRIAN NIELSEN, Sports Editor

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A former Florida high school Player of the Year is considering transferring from Louisville to Eastern Illinois to play quarterback.

Justin Rascati, a backup last season as a Louisville freshman, came to EIU the past weekend for what is to be one of six visits to NCAA Division I-AA schools where he could play this year.

Still going through spring practice at Louisville, Rascati is being allowed by Louisville coaches to visit other schools as he has made no secret of his desire to find more playing time.

"I'm going to transfer," Rascati said. "I'm looking at Eastern Illinois and really liked it a lot. I liked coach (Jon) Carr (EIU's offensive coordinator) and all the coaches. I have other visits, but Eastern Illinois is a place where I could end up going. It's kind of like high school all over again, making all my visits."

Rascati has also visited Indiana State and Central Florida.

He plans to visit EIU's Ohio Valley Conference rival Murray State this weekend and Chattanooga and Massachusetts in following weeks before making a decision in May.

With three years of eligibility left if he goes from NCAA Division I-A to I-AA, Rascati is looking for a new team.

Not only would he likely spend another year behind 2003 Conference USA first-team quarterback Stefan LeFors, who is to be a senior this fall, but Louisville also recruited USA Today High School Offensive Player of the Year Brian Brohm.

Brohm passed for 119 touchdowns leading Louisville Trinity High School to three state championships and has a obvious connection with the University of Louisville.

"There's a freshman coming and his brother is our quarterbacks coach (Jeff Brohm) and his other brother is director football operations (Greg Brohm), so the writing is on the wall for me," Rascati said.

Still, head coach Bobby Petrino is allowing Rascati to participate in Louisville's spring practices while looking elsewhere.

"I think coach knows my situation and knows what's best for me," Rascati said. "I don't want to be away from football that long so I'm practicing and I love my teammates here."

Last season in reserve duty Rascati completed 14 of 24 passes for 177 yards with two interceptions and one touchdown.

He redshirted in 2002 after being named the Gainesville Sun's 2001 Florida high school 2001 Class 3A-5A Player of the Year at Buchholz, where he passed for a school record 2,233 yards and 22 touchdowns as a senior.

"I feel I have a good arm," Rascati said. "People call me a pocket passer, but last year I had a 30-yard touchdown run and in high school I had a lot of rushing yards."

While NCAA rules do not allow Eastern coaches to comment on prospects until signed, coach Bob Spoo made no secret on the February signing date that he was interested in finding a I-A transfer who might compete for a job with Andrew Harris, the starter for the last eight games of the Panthers' 4-8 season.

While Harris stands as EIU's No. 1 quarterback this spring, Rascati might storm onto the scene in August.

The chance to play immediately is just one of the reasons he might like Eastern.

"I just want to go somewhere where I can play for a national championship every year," Rascati said. "I think Eastern Illinois is a place I could do that. Basically I just want to win a national championship. That's one thing I couldn't do at a lot of I-A schools."

Has Eastern Illinois won any football national championships or played in any?

Yes, when they were in Division II, but not in 1-AA.

Rascatti had two TD's yesterday for his team made up of reserves.

Unlike USF, UL plays their spring game like a real game.

Of course, LeFors had a great game with his starting team.

They had over 12,000 in attendance.

Hopefully, the new USF AD will turn the Spring Game into a happening like they do at Louisville.

s. bien had a great idea to do this

does ul play 1st team against reserves?

how does that help you come fall?

The way we play our spring game is to evaluate "individual" IMO ... we have 15 practices to do this ... I agree that the "game" should be more entertaining for the fans ... supporters.

... oh, to keep this relevant, I hope Rascatti is playing in next year's Spring Game  8)

Go BULLS !!!

Not to be pessimistic but USF will not have 10000 spring game attenders until the Bulls win back to back national championships.  There is just to much to do on a 75-78 degree, sunny, spring afternoon in April in the Tampa Bay area.  Such as golf, beach, NHL playoffs, boating, jet skiing, fishing, Little League, outdoor basketball, MLB.  Compared to the great metropolis of Louisville, KY where the sun has probably come out 12 times since Halloween.  There is no comparison.  Heck Tampa Bay home owner are mowing lawns in April and a late snow in Louisville is not unheard of in late March.
