How can some of y'all be bashing this class before seeing them play??  Who cares if Mobley is 6'5" if he can play.  And despite what's been posted here, he won't be facing 6'10" PF's unless he plans on jumping straight to the NBA.

Give coach a chance to build this program - it will take some time.  The JUCO's are a stop-gap until he can get some freshman talent.

A class of midgets and only 2 will be true freshmen when this season starts.  I don't care what anyone says or if RMC is their hero.    This class does NOT bode well for the BE or CUSA for that matter.  The BE is a tougher, physical style of play conference unlike CUSA, Pac 10 or even the Big 12.  Apparently RMC thinks we are going to the MAC and not the BE.  This is pathetic.

so you are saying if these guy's play above their talent

level as billed with coach mac coaching and we get to .500 or better and are considered for the nit next

year that this is pathetic?

IMHO if these guy's pan out and play with the heart and deciplin of this years team, you are one big man (juco or fresh) away from being competetive in the BE

I would rather have 6'5" of nastiness and muscle inside than 6'10" of timidness and a rail thin frame. Ben Wallace is undersized in terms of height in the NBA but the guy gets it done.

I would agree, except that if you were referring to Gerrick Morris, he was pretty **** nasty, but in a totally different way.   He was one of the few positives we had all year.

Tenacity goes a long way but never overcomes equal tenacity that has superior speed, height, and shooting ability.

My point exactly Bulldoug.  Some people act like the teams we are going to be playing against don't have "heart".  All other things being equal a taller PF or C is going to dominate a shorter player.

All things being equal... but rarely are things equal.

'Hounds' Blair Set For Jax U.

By Roy Fuoco

The Ledger

roy.fuoco@theledger.com

WINTER HAVEN -- Alex Blair had his sights on Jacksonville University, and not even some late wooing from South Florida or UCF would deter him. The Auburndale standout signed with the Atlantic Sun Conference school Wednesday afternoon and will play Division I basketball next fall.

Blair, who has qualified academically, is eager to show his skills at the collegiate level.

"A lot of people didn't think I'd qualify," Blair said. "I really felt like I had something to prove."

A 6-foot-7 center for the Bloodhounds, Blair, who averaged about 15 points and 10 rebounds per game, will likely play power forward or small forward for Jacksonville. He's working to improve his skills, although he already has a sweet short jump shot.

"His attitude has improved on and off the court," Auburndale coach Eric Robinson said. "I think he did a superb job."

Even before his coach made that comment, Blair was quick to acknowledge that his outlook is better.

When he was younger, Blair would often get frustrated when his teammates wouldn't pass him the ball or when he wasn't getting fouls called inside.

Athletically, Blair is a gifted player who is quick up and down the court -- he runs the 400 in track. He also can rebound, block shots and post up.

Jacksonville began recruiting Blair in January, and he stayed loyal to Jacksonville coach Hugh Durham.

Lenoir-Rhyne Signs Krause

Lake Gibson senior Natalie Krause signed with Lenoir-Rhyne, a Division II school in Hickory, N.C.

Lake Gibson coach Joya Teter said the school is a good fit for Krause.

"The coach (Dave Markland) is really nice," Teter said. "He's really interested in his players and not just as athletes but as individuals."

Krause was one of the top players in the county the past two seasons, making first-team All-County both years. She was primarily a setter early in her career but emerged as a top right-side hitter while remaining the Braves' top setter.

Lenoir-Rhyne recruited Krause as a right-side hitter, but she also will be a back-up setter. She plans to major in exercise science.

Krause said that early on she expected to go to college as a setter but that changed during her senior year. There is one adjustment, however, that she'll have to make. She's only seen snow once.

"It will be nice to make that adaptation," she said.

First I heard this name . . .

LOL!!! yeah sure you have a chance to play for USF in the BIG EAST or even UCF in CUSA but you rather go to Jacksonville in the ASUN to "show your skills".

I work in HS athletics n i can tell you the number of kids that come in n say UM,FSU etc are recruiting me n want me but end up in 1AA,reason is many kids assume that getting a letter or a call from a coach in that school as that they want me to go there.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
