Feel so bad for his family and the team. Such horrible news.

Just shocking. He was 2 years older than me. Beautiful family, tragic that they must go on without him. Things like this just shouldn't happen.

This is so sad in many ways.  As mentioned in this thread, Coach Bill Gibson died in July 1975 of a heart attack.  I was a statistician and student manager of the Basketbulls when Coach Gibson died.  He had been the ACC Coach of the Year at the University of Virginia before he became our Coach.  He was a terrific Coach and such a nice guy to me and everyone associated with the Basketbulls.

I still have the voicemail he left me a few months ago thanking for the support. Ended it with a huge GO BULLS! like he always has. Devastating news, I truly thought I'd have the opportunity to speak with him and thank him for his positivity and the good he does for these young men even greater than basketball.

My condolences to his family. RIP.

Still have it written on my white board at work...

This is the same feeling I had that night in Chicago when we heard of Leroy Selmons passing.
RIP coach.

RIP coach.

This one is a little different for me in that we knew Lee Roy was ill and it was not unexpected, this one for me came completely out of the blue with literally no word of any issues of Amir having health issues. Both too soon and simply sad.

This one has me at a loss for words. The impact he made on this school and fanbase in such a short time shows the person he was. Prayers to his family. RIP to a great coach and an even better man.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
