I do remember something said to that effect back then so I’ll have to go back and put together a time line.

They had an ill timed IPF groundbreaking to present so the "OCS plan" was more of a OCS hail mary by Will Weatherford. What was he gonna say? We just got left behind but so excited about an IPF...nope....they pulled a rabbit

I’m not sure that’s the right group to blame because time by itself doesn’t make you successful or build you a stadium.  
 

We had our peak and we decided to self inflict mortal (or nearly mortal) wounds.  We paid a lot of money in those successful years to incompetent people.  We built facilities that really didn’t matter and we continued to deny the football program what it earned.
 

It takes a certain amount of ineptitude to do that. That same ineptitude could’ve taken place 40 years ago too.
 

The failures after Paul Griffin/Betty Castor is why it’s so hard for the people today to try to get us out of the hole dug (Doug) by their predecessors.

Couldn't take in everyone. Can't swear that they didn't. But it is just as likely that admin decided to make us feel better about getting left out of the Big12 and announce an OCS and then try to figure it out later.
