They would argue that if the players would execute, then the tempo would be a good thing.  🤔

I have mixed feelings

I agree when CAG says he wants to build a program not a team

Do you sacrifice the long term scheme you want your players to learn in one year to get a few extra wins? I don't know.

The scheme obviously works - see last year at USF and last few years of Tenn. There's just something about this year.

Yes the difference is that we happened to play teams with a winning record. Offense seemed to have worked ok against a 1-3 SMiss and 0-5 BCU.

Gag needs to dump this basically a turnover offense as it takes 30 secs to go 3 and out. Go spread, use jet sweeps, encourage the QB to buy time by scrambling and not take off to run at first glance.

Defense allowed TDs on the first 2 Tulane drives…hardly fatigue from the hurry up offense

TN is around 40th in speed of play and a top 5 offense. USF is top 5 in speed of play and around 90th in offense.

You can have speed or quality but you can’t have both.

Kind of related - did we ever hear why Rucker didn't play at Tulane?  He's been called out positively for his play on defense by CAG in prior games.

Was suspended for making noise while the team was on offense the previous week.

I like the uptempo offense, for sure, but I don't think it needs to be your entire offense.

I think if it was a great scheme you would see more teams using it than just a few. Also I think you need depth and great conditioning in order  for it to be successful.

Also not convinced that the scheme brought great results last year since we were still blown out by UAB, FAU,WKU,UTSA. The games we won  were against Rice, Temple, UConn, Charlotte, Navy who were bottom teams in the country last year. Syracuse was a weird one and it sure fooled me since I really thought that that could have been a turning point.

No doubt we were much better than the year before and Golesh deserves credit, but I am not convinced we got those extra wins because of scheme or just because we out talented the other teams plus better coaching.

I am not saying Golesh should throw his plan in the garbage disposal, but he has to figure out how to get us competitive right away against the better teams in the AAC.
