What players do our team consist of? Will we ever be good? I broke it down for you.

Somebody commented on Tulane’s new coach and how they are still winning with a new coach. I realize their new coach inherited a 12-win team and kept the ball rolling. Then I decided to look at our team a little deeper. I realized that this team needs another year of purging old players for new ones. CCS and CJS had a few good ones, but waaaay more misses or players that didn’t develop. CAG also had a few misses, but they were still better than what CJS and CCS left us. This season, we only have a few goals left - Win the AAC or Go to a bowl game & win 9-10 games for the season. Our reality is what it is. Until we purge this team of any Charlie Strong or Jeff Scott payers (outside of Byrum Brown) then we are who we are. I love the 2024 recruiting class (Ranked 67th). The 2023 class was small (ranked 80th) but had a few gems. The 2025 class is currently ranked 57th and will be CAG's highest-ranked incoming recruiting class if he can hold on to it. We have 27 Grad players and 21 Seniors. I expect at least 20+ players will hit the portal this year.

My conclusion? Be patient. We will need to add at least 25-35 players from the portal. Memphis took 30 players from the portal in 2024. Tulane took about 23 players. Depending on who will replace FAU for our OOC game in 2026, that might be our best chance for a playoff run. 2025 should be when we finally win the AAC.

Great breakdown. Amazing we still have Strong recruits on this team.

Do think next year with recruiting and portal we start a real rebound in the program. This year we should still see improvement over last year is my hope.

Perhaps the shakiest thing in college football is a “verbal commitment” from a player your team is recruiting. Especially in today’s NIL-fueled environment, a c

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
